![]() It's an absolute last resort tool, where you admit to your audio sounding noticeably processed. So the near-miraculous ability of repair plugins is mostly realized on high-quality recordings with a defect - or in your case room reverb - rather than what I end up working with.Ītmosfar wrote:De-reverb is a tricky beast indeed, and more often than not makes things sound unnatural or qualitatively "worse". Sort of like doing color correction on 8-bit video: you just can't push it all that far. Everything's grainier to begin with and artificial manipulation enhances it. I'm also thinking that when I feel the need for RX, it's because of a poorly-recorded audio on an iPhone rather than someone with a high-quality mic and recorder forgetting and leaving an air conditioner on. ![]() (Just as I can sometimes hear noise during speech that's damped out between words/syllables and it's. I'm beginning to think that some of what bothers me is hearing the reverb at higher levels while the person is speaking, then having it drops out more after a word, which creates a bit of a buzzy sound. There doesn't seem to be much documentation or training in that regard. Not sure if I'm over-doing it or under-doing it, or if several milder applications work better than one larger application, etc. I've tried it on voices and not had a lot of success. I'd love to hear any tips you have for using things like RX's De-reverb. Human voices have particular characteristics - and we have very particular requirements for understanding - so I figure there should always be a specialized repair tool for human voice. ![]() Just my impression - I can't afford RX Advanced to actually try it out though. It just seems that the premium RX modules are machine-learning based and have been trained on lots of, say, human voices to learn how to work with dialogue better than more generic tools work. Totally agree, that there would be a more generic setting for general use.
